The city of Lawrenceville recently invested millions in a mixed-use development as part of its downtown revitalization plan. This is one of the largest redevelopment projects in suburban Atlanta, with which they hope to bring urban vitality and a sustainable activity center to the community.
A vital piece of redevelopment is pedestrian improvements. This streetscape project installed wide sidewalks with vintage streetlights, brick accents, landscaping and conveniences to increase interest, walkability and connectivity in downtown Lawrenceville. Gwinnett County DOT led the project, whose large scope required extraordinary coordination between our team, the general contractor and the city. We installed 88 poles across eight blocks of this massive streetscape, including intersection lighting. If you can believe it, one of the first pieces of feedback we received was that “it’s too bright”!
